Almost twenty years ago, in an effort to increase educational options and close the inequality gap, the Common Black Application was established. Similar to the Common App, this platform allows you to keep track of your progress and apply to colleges.

What is the Common Black College Application?
The Common Black College Application (CBCA) allows students to apply to 53 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) for $35. HBCUs are schools that were established before 1964, “whose principal mission was, and is, the education of black Americans.”
Why was the CBCA created?
The founder, Robert Mason, created the CBCA because he sought to break the cycle of poverty in families. His organization makes applying to multiple colleges more accessible to lower-income families.
Why is the CBCA useful?
The CBCA allows you to apply to 53 colleges at once for the cost of one application, saving you hundreds of dollars in application fees. Also, by casting a wider net to more schools, you are improving your chance of acceptance. In addition to a better chance of acceptance, 53% of applicants have reported getting scholarships.
