It’s January and admissions season is well under way and application reviews have started. This year I’m reading applications for a school in California, so I’ll be speaking with that perspective in mind, but in no way am I speaking for the university. Plus of course, I also edit and revise personal statements for future students.

So with that in mind, I decided instead of bringing you another video on personal statements—why not talk about some of the trends I’m seeing while reading applications so far. And so I took a couple minutes and put a list together in my head.
